Jamaimoi is a French producer and DJ from the northern suburbs of Paris with a temporary address in Lisbon, where you can catch him throwing parties around town during the week.
He successfully incorporates influences such as 90s house, G-House, old school hip hop, jazz, and soul into his production while retaining the sound of his compatriots, who peaked on global charts and dancefloors during the late 90s, known as French Touch.
For the third release on FRI, Jamaimoi brings a more intelligent house music experience with this four-track EP.
It's a seamless blend of filtered funky disco grooves and meticulously crafted synts and pads that invoke deep but uplifting and exciting emotions.
The first track Bright Lizard is not your typical 4x4 house beat. It's a broken beat rhythm driven by a bouncy rhythmic dotted bassline, followed by a synt and filtered pad which is gliding across the track like a lizard while creating and releasing tension throughout the track.
The second track, Build Problems Sell Solutions, is distinguished by a bassline that continues to bubble and drown in filtered textures of pads and chords, with occasional triumphal trumpet accents in certain sections of the track.
This track has a buzzy but smooth feel which encapsulates the picture of a night drives through vibrant metropolitan city streets.
The third track, Drink Talk Kiss, is a revival of the true French Touch classic sound. This disco-fueled house extravaganza is embellished by wonderfully harmonized and joyous strings looming throughout the track while evoking beautiful and uplifting feelings as strings emerge from filtered textures and a funky bassline.
Stop Talking To Me About Astrology is the fourth track from the EP. It starts with a rich Epiano chord and a well-known string stab sound, which captivates the listener's attention right from the start by implying nostalgic 90s house vibes.
Bouncy and swinging drum rhythms that are combined with chorused and phased electric clav add exquisite spacy and atmospheric depth.
